Specialist Physician/Senior Physician in Ophthalmology

We are now seeking a specialist physician/senior physician in ophthalmology for a part-time position at the Eye Clinic in Umeå! We are looking for someone with vitreoretinal surgical competence.

The Eye Clinic in Västerbotten provides specialist healthcare in the field of ophthalmology in Västerbotten and the northern region. Our operations are located at the county's three hospitals in Umeå, Skellefteå, and Lycksele. We are a university clinic with large patient flows, caring for patients with eye diseases of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. Our operations take place in a highly research and teaching-oriented environment where we collaborate with the Department of Ophthalmology at Umeå University.

At the Eye Clinic in Umeå, we have a well-developed outpatient service, and our care facilities are located in the Hand, Plastic, and Eye Department. Annually, we perform approximately 6,700 surgeries and have over 35,000 outpatient visits. We strive to be at the forefront and have several areas of national expertise. We have over 80 employees at the Umeå clinic. Due to our regional specialty, most tasks found in an eye clinic are included.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an ophthalmologist with us, you will contribute knowledge and engagement that makes people feel secure.

You will work with medical and surgical care of the eye. You will examine, diagnose, and treat eye disorders and diseases, as well as manage eye problems caused by underlying conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a licensed physician with specialist competence in ophthalmology and subspecialized in vitreoretinal surgery.

If the applicant's qualifications have not been peer-reviewed previously, this must occur before employment. Therefore, the following documentation must be attached to the application:

1. Scientific merits (if applicable)
   • Certificate of academic degree, such as Doctor of Medicine or Associate Professor
   • Complete publication list
2. Pedagogical merits (if applicable)
   • Certificate/documentation of teaching experience
   • Certificate of supervision course (basic or specialist training)
3. Clinical and other merits (if applicable)
   • Certificate of subspecialization
   • Certificate/documentation of leadership assignments and/or operational development

Verification of medical license and all relevant specialist certificates via the National Board of Health and Welfare (HOSP) will be conducted upon receipt of the application.
